Although the festival of the Virgin of Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen, is celebrated in many districts in Tenerife, the most famous celebration is held in Puerto de la Cruz. Every year, in this tourist resort in the north of Tenerife, local people carry the statue of the Virgin together with one of Saint Telmo from their chapel to the small beach in the fishing harbour. This procession is a major event and done with great enthusiasm by the local people, who are always keen to share the great atmosphere with visitors. .../
